That uncertainty is also part of the value: genuine voluntary advocacy can carry a different kind of credibility.
Set the objective
Decide whether the campaign is designed to build awareness, generate trials, seed a launch, create relationships, collect feedback or identify creators for future paid partnerships. This determines who should receive the product and how success is measured.
Choose recipients strategically
Do not simply send to the biggest database possible. Prioritise category relevance, audience fit, likelihood of genuine use, location, creator quality and existing brand affinity.
For some launches, hundreds of smaller creators can create useful visibility. For niche products, a much tighter list may be more effective.
Make the unboxing worth opening
The product itself should remain the hero, but thoughtful presentation can increase attention. Include clear product information, why it is relevant to the recipient and where it is available. Avoid excessive packaging that conflicts with brand values.
Follow up without demanding
Good follow-up is helpful and respectful. Confirm delivery, provide any required product information and make assets easy to access. If posting was not contracted, do not behave as though it was.
Identify future partners
Sampling can function as a discovery engine. Creators who genuinely love the product and make strong organic content may become ideal candidates for paid partnerships, UGC or ambassador programs.
Amplify the best content
When a creator produces standout content, secure permission before repurposing it. Strong organic advocacy can sometimes become powerful paid or owned creative.
Measure the right things
Track acceptance, delivery, organic mentions, content quality, sentiment and subsequent paid-partnership opportunities. For retail launches, add search and sales signals where possible.
RISER advantage
RISER connects sampling with the wider creator ecosystem, helping brands move from product distribution to advocacy, content and longer-term creator relationships.
